Meet Dr. Silverman

Dr. Mark A. Silverman , known by many of you as ‘Magic Hands™’ since his inception, has been practicing in Miami for over 33 years. He has been involved in the creation of a non-profit company called Health For Everyone that has provided thousands of dollars in free treatment and other services to the poor and elderly in Miami-Dade County. He has made inroads into areas where most chiropractors were unable to in the past, such as HMOs and other companies, due to his cost-effectiveness studies.

He also started a consulting company to help his colleagues become more cost-effective in their treatment and to help them better document their results. He has spoken with thousands of chiropractors around the world about the effectiveness of chiropractic. One of his greatest achievements was the study he conducted with Av-Med Health Plan, which showed that most inpatient surgeries related to disk problems could be avoided through chiropractic and complementary care. In this study, Av-Med Health Plan owner Dr. Herb Davis referred his most difficult patients who needed surgery, traction, or hospitalization, and the first 30 recovered. As a result, no patient was allowed to be hospitalized for back-related problems without first seeing Dr. Silverman.

One of the youngest chiropractors at 23 years old in 1975.
He built one of the largest chiropractic centers in the United States.
He became one of the first chiropractors in an HMO in the United States.
He became the first chiropractic director for Av-Med Health Plan.
He opened the doors for chiropractors in the United States in HMOs.
He conducted a study with Av-Med Health Plan that showed the cost-effectiveness of chiropractic care in treating disc-related problems, reducing hospitalizations and unnecessary surgeries.
He spoke at a Florida Medicare Continuing Education Seminar on chiropractic documentation and cost-effectiveness for Florida Medicare nurses.
He was nominated by Governor Martinez to the Chiropractic Board.

He was nominated for the Miami Heralds Spirit of Excellence Award for his work in the Latino community.
He was nominated to the Old Usefuls Board that helped feed the elderly in Miami.
He serves on the Board of Directors of City Reach Ministries, which feeds thousands of families in Dade County.
He was appointed to the Salvation Army's advisory board.
He was honored by the City of Miami, Miami-Dade County, and the City of Hialeah, and had his own day named in his honor in the City of Miami, the City of Hialeah, and Dade County.
He was the official chiropractor for the Miami Fire Department, the City of Miami, and Hyatt, Hilton, and Marriott hotels, where he introduced injury prevention courses and dramatically reduced costs and lost work time.

He was a chiropractor for the City of North Miami, Coral Gables, Miami Dade Athletics,
He was a member of the Chiropractic Board of the Dade County Chiropractic Society.
Keynote speaker for the Parker Foundation and the College of Chiropractors for over 20 years.
He was a keynote speaker for the Ontario and California Chiropractic Association.
